As a Physician who treats pain, I understand how pain affects people, their lives and families. English poet and critic John Dryden summarized the significance of pain in these lines:
“For all the happiness Mankind can gain; Is not in pleasure, But in rest from pain.”
Understanding and appreciating the importance of pain both as a symptom and a disease gives me the insight and ability to treat pain in a compassionate and caring manner. My education, background and training provide me with the skills to manage pain effectively. I was fortunate enough to be trained by two of the best Pain Physicians in the World – Dr. Prithvi Raj and Dr. Gabor Racz, a pain fellowship in Lubbock, Texas. Practicing as an interventional pain physician for the past twenty years, I gained a wealth of experience in treating pain using a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach with the latest techniques and technology.
Starting with a thorough evaluation, I believe in finding the cause of the pain with an accurate diagnosis and then proceeding to treat the pain using a spectrum of different modalities including interventional techniques, physical therapy, psychological, pharmacological and surgical therapies. I discuss all available options with my patients and give them an opportunity to make decisions and take an active part in their care. Pain relief being the primary goal, I believe restoring function and returning people to their normal lives is just as important. My mission is to provide pain relief with quality of care as my guiding principle and the smile I see on a patient’s face when they get pain relief is my reward and motivation.
